So after a request for a toddler scarf I definitely wanted to learn something new and cute. Little girl/superstar friendly. Hot pink, black and white has many many adorable possibilities. Red Heart brand yarn was the only yarn I could find that had the most appropriate pink...cheap and cute. Can't beat it and there may be some left over for a throw.
While trolling one of my favorite sites for scarves, I found the cutest little superstar scarf and another equally cuddly one (that could possibly be used as a "Mommy and Me" set). Both are double knit, and, after several swatches (aka, pot holders) I"ve figured it out.
I owe my husband a scarf from our 2nd anniversary(from june...I know I know. and it's cotton, go me) I may make him the "dotted line" scarf. It almost perfectly matches a knit hat I bought him for valentines day. Much like the rest of my gifts...it too will be belated. (If you read this, Suprise baby, love you lol :)
Hopefully I'll get it finished with in the next 2 weeks, then, on to the next. ::fingers crossed::

Happy Belated Mothers Day Mom....
So being in the Sunshine State, one doesn't think about the snow or cold that often...or ever. But....being one of the only Florida Babies in a family of Midwesterners...I think about frostbite. No, not the actual cold or the snow and sleet that can come with it...but the fozen bits of body you see in movies that can be crunched off. (Yep, that's where my brain went)
Last Mothers Day I got the not so brilliant idea that I'd knit my mom a winter set for when she visits the Fam in Missouri. Well....I ended up crocheting a hat and just left off the scalloped edge. For me, it was absolutely the easy way out. 2hrs and I was done...ok maybe 2 1/2 since I ripped back a few times because I didn't like my gague. But here's the hat and my assistant gaurding the last skein.....
I chose a super bulky yarn (lionbrand wool ease thick & quick) on 10mm bamboo needles. After many more rip backs and some mild cursing I finally started a few weeks ago but finished a last friday.
Now maybe some ear warmers next......

Antropologie-Inspired Capelet
I've had this pattern for about a year and just hadn't gotten the guts to work my way out of the wonderful world of pot-holders. So without further ado (or blocking) here's my own capelet....
I still can't get over how easy it actually was! I ended up taking out the stitch markers though; when I did it with them the yarn-overs (holes) all went diagonal in the same direction.
More pictures will be posted later of the garment actually being worn. There isn't a brooch/pin yet but it's still cute with out it.
How do you spell brooch any way? Is that even right?
